to Gather and Celebrate

The Friends of the Posse Grounds are raising funds in order to restore and preserve the legacy of this historic site on city land for generations to come.

Our Goals:

• To restore and preserve this remaining historical piece of the Posse Grounds Park
• To Provide a place for rest and contemplation with one of the most magnificent views of Sedona's majestic red rocks
• To provide a daytime gathering and performance venue for youth and the entire community
• To honor Barbara Antonsen's vision and the park's arts and cultural history
• To create a "green" project incorporating water conservation and sustainable design

IMAGINE a tree-shaded venue on Sedona's historic Posse Grounds where one can rest, read and relax and take delight at the majestic vistas of Red Rock Country.		THE BARBARA ANTONSEN MEMORIAL PARK "This acreage in the heart of Sedona parkland, is really the jewel in the crown and must be preserved for the enjoyment of future generations of our citizens and their visitors." — Barbara Antonsen    June 1994 At Barbara's urging and with signatures, the City council purchased this acreage, thereby ensuring that Barbara's jewel would be held in perpetuity for the benefit of those for whom she had labored so hard and effectively. ENVISION a small community park where local citizens gather for picnics, poetry readings, weddings, classes and to observe artists at work.
DISCOVER a covered stage composed mostly of recycled materials.
WATCH a children's play unfolding or a Shakespeare play in rehearsal, a guitar concert or a pair of modern dancers whirling around the stage like graceful birds.
RELAX on a bench; hearken to the symphonic strains of violins and trumpets and relish the array of public art looming up from the rich, sustainably-planted green amphitheater.
TAKE a nature walk and watch the hawks, vultures and condors cavorting in the sky. Make plans to return to the Posse Grounds and the Barbara Antonsen Memorial Park someday soon.
